The Institute of Solomon Islands Accountants (ISIA) announced the appointment of its new Council. The new Executive council members are President Smiley Giobauta, Vice President David Dennis, Treasurer Peter Soqoilo and Secretary Pamela Alamu. Other Council members include Simon Ramoifai, Delilah Homelo, Roger Murray Townshend, Lester Soaika, Malina Ilala and Sixtus Torakana.

Outgoing President Mr Roger Murray Townshend said he was pleased with turnout at the AGM and the support provided by the members of ISIA.

Partnership with the Government of Australia to establish a new Secretariat and recruit a new CEO and the provision of high quality workshops supported by CPA Australia in 2017”, he said.

Incoming President and former Council member Mr Smiley Giobauta said “I’m excited about ISIA’s development opportunities in 2018 and continuing on the good work of previous Council. Our immediate focus will be to appoint a new CEO and strengthen our Secretariat.”

“We are also grateful to the Government of Australia and CPA Australia for their ongoing support and look forward to progressing our joint plans in 2018” Mr Giobauta added. I’m sure with our new Council we will continue to progress development of the Accountancy and Audit profession at both private and public sector level in Solomon Islands.

The Institute of Solomon Islands Accountants was established under the Accountants Act 2010 and currently has 184 members. The Institute’s objects includes regulating and developing the practice of accountancy in Solomon Islands.
