Australia provided the Institute of Solomon Islands Accountants (ISIA) with a SBD1.5million (AUD250,000) funding boost to upskill its members and further develop its core capabilities and functions. The grant is part of Australia’s ongoing program enabling central agencies and professionals in various industries to strengthen their skills and expertise.
Australia’s High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, Dr Lachlan Strahan said “Skilled accountants make strong contributions to sound financial management, provide leadership on public finances and tackle corruption and fraud. A strong accounting profession, with high standards of financial reporting, as well as local expertise will lead to increasing foreign investor confidence in the Solomon Islands economy. This will lead to sound economic development and growth.”
Australia has supported the Institute of Solomon Islands Accountants (ISIA) since 2017 to develop and regulate accountancy and auditing in [SB]. With Australia’s support, ISIA has developed a new and more interactive website, and hosted its first-ever Women in Leadership Program in partnership with CPA Australia and Women on Boards to develop the professional capacity of women accountants for leadership positions in Solomon Islands.
