Speaking during Day 1 of the ISIA Annual Congress 2026, Deputy Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, Mr. Andrew Schloeffel, acknowledged the continued growth of the Institute of Solomon Islands Accountants (ISIA) and recognized its contribution to the development of the accounting profession in Solomon Islands.
The two-day Congress brings together accounting and finance professionals, leaders and emerging talent from Solomon Islands and the region for learning, collaboration and professional exchange.
The Congress provides an important platform for participants to strengthen professional networks, exchange ideas and contribute to the continued development of the accounting and finance profession.
Mr. Schloeffel also reaffirmed Australia’s support for the ISIA Annual Congress, noting that Australia is proud to support the event as Platinum Sponsor for the third consecutive year.
“Our support reflects the strength of our partnership with the Solomon Islands Government and, of course, ISIA.
“And our shared commitment to a capable, ethical, and forward-looking accounting profession. It is encouraging to see the accounting profession in the Solomon Islands continue to grow and strengthen over recent years,” he said.
Supporting the Next Generation of Accounting Professionals
Australia has also supported the development of the accounting profession through scholarships for Solomon Islanders undertaking the Professional Diploma in Accounting.
To date, 143 scholarships have been provided across four cohorts, helping to expand the pipeline of qualified accounting professionals in Solomon Islands.
“These scholarships are helping to build a strong pipeline of qualified accounting professionals for both the public and, importantly, the private sector.
“This is important because strong accounting systems are fundamental to economic growth, investor confidence and effective public service delivery,” Mr. Schloeffel said.
ISIA Membership Continues to Grow
The growth of the accounting profession is also reflected in ISIA’s membership.
From 275 members in 2024, ISIA’s membership has grown to 429 members, demonstrating increased interest in professional membership and the Institute’s work in supporting and strengthening the profession.
ISIA members represent a range of sectors across Solomon Islands, reflecting the growing recognition of the importance and value of accounting and finance skills across the wider economy.
The continued growth of the Institute and its membership reinforces the importance of initiatives such as the Annual Congress in providing opportunities for professionals to learn, connect, share knowledge and contribute to the future of the accounting and finance profession in Solomon Islands.
