The third Institute of Solomon Islands Accountants (ISIA) Annual Congress got underway in Honiara on Thursday 17 September 2026, under the theme “Beyond Qualifications: Building a Workforce That Thinks, Leads, and Creates.”
The two-day Congress brings together accounting professionals, leaders and emerging talent to engage in discussions on key issues shaping the accounting profession and the wider economy.
The programme covers a broad range of topics, including economic development, public financial management, accounting standards, digital transformation, workforce capability, governance, financial reporting and transparency, sustainability, and the future of the accounting profession.
The Congress opened with keynote addresses from Mr. David Dennis, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Treasury (MoFT), and Mr. Andrew Schloeffel, Deputy Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands.
Delivering the opening remarks, ISIA President Mr. Johnson Lobo emphasized the evolving role of accountants and the importance of trust in the profession. He highlighted that the accountant of tomorrow must be more than a custodian of numbers, but also a custodian of trust.
The Congress provides a platform for participants to exchange knowledge and perspectives, strengthen professional networks and consider how the accounting profession can contribute to stronger institutions, a capable workforce and sustainable development in Solomon Islands.
Over the two days, participants will hear from speakers and engage in sessions designed to encourage critical thinking, leadership, innovation and continued professional development.
The ISIA Annual Congress 2026 reflects ISIA’s commitment to supporting the continued development of the accounting profession and building a workforce equipped to think, lead and create beyond traditional qualifications.
